The ‘Toughest Yet’ Raised The Biggest Yet

GM Fundraising’s Border2Border cycling challenge that took place in June this year has raised record funds for Hope House Children’s Hospice’s by beating all other previous events organised over the last 20 years.  The team of 24 riders and support crew cycled from Canada to Mexico over 11 days covering 2,111 miles and 94,600ft of climbing with 864,000 calories burned and 4,536,000 peddle turns (cadence).

“All funds and pledges have now been collected and we are absolutely delighted to announce that the Border2Border challenge has raised a phenomenal £195,766.92 – the most we have ever raised from one event,” says Gary Morton, Chairman of GM Fundraising and B2B team member.

“All of this has come from the hard work of every one that took part in the challenge and of course, the support of our amazing industry.  The riders and support crew put in an immense amount of effort to raise support for their challenge.  All the money raised goes directly to Hope House Children’s Hospices as each of the team covered their own costs for the ride. We were also supported by our Headline sponsor Deceuninck, who not only contributed to the cost of the ride, but also welcomed us to their new plant in Reno during the trip.

“Thank you to everyone that has supported us throughout – and not just from GM Fundraising and the Border2Border team, but from all the children, families and staff at Hope House.”

Andy Goldsmith, Chief Executive of Hope House adds: “The support we receive from GM Fundraising is critical.  Hope House is more than just a hospice; it’s a service and by providing support to children with life-limiting illnesses and their families, our aim is to improve their quality of life in any way possible.  84% of our funding comes from donations and the amount raised by this ride alone will help us offer more time, to more children and families.

It takes determined people to successfully plan, organise and undertake a fundraiser such as the GMF Border2Border challenge. It takes extraordinary people to take on such a challenge simply to help children not expected to reach early adulthood.  The GM Fundraising Border2Border team are those special people for which we are truly grateful”
