“Phenomenal” 13th GM Fundraising Golf Day

With temperatures in the high twenties, the July sun beat down on the 13th GM Fundraising Golf Day at Hellidon Lakes in Daventry. The annual golf day had confirmed its status as a must attend event in any glazing industry golfer’s calendar, having sold out within 24 hours. Despite the sun, players took on the challenge of the rolling 6187 yard championship course, which as the name suggests featured several demanding water hazards. Many also took the opportunity to challenge and even beat the pro on the par 3 eighteenth hole. All confirmed the quality and toughness of the course.

Gary Morton, founder of GM Fundraising says: “As well as a great day out for all involved with a superb dinner, high quality raffle, charity auction and prize giving in the evening, the key objective, as in everything we do, was fundraising. We’re delighted to say that overall we raised £8,400 for Hope House Children’s Hospices.”

Congratulations were extended to the winning Promac team of Joe Hague, Paul Young, Mark Rodgers and Richard Brooks, who took the honours with 94 points just one point ahead of Mike James, Steve McEwen, Chris Hunt and Bob Meath of the 3D Aluminiumplas team. Steven Beasley hit a screamer for the Longest Drive, and Dave Pullen won Nearest the Pin. Quickslide’s Adrian Barraclough achieved the Best Individual Score of 39 points with Haffner Murat’s Dave Thomas’ proving how tough the conditions were, picking up the Wooden Spoon trophy on a countback.

Morton added, “I’d just like to say a huge thank you for the generosity of our friends and colleagues in making this such a phenomenal day. It has been such a success that all the signs point to making it a two day event next year.”
