Mark Colbourne MBE

Mark Colbourne in the autumn of 2011 was given the opportunity by the Great Britain Para-cycling team to perform at the 2011 World Para-cycling Road Championships in Roskilde in Denmark, only 2 years after leaving Hospital with a broken back. Mark Colbourne accepted this challenge and confidently raced in the 10 mile individual road time trial event and incredibly won the Silver medal, just slightly behind the 2008 Beijing Paralympic Champion Michael Teuber from Germany.

In the summer of 2011 Mark Colbourne entered into his first summer of road and time trial racing for the Great Britain Para-cycling team as a guest rider with the team and he certainly didn’t disappoint his country with his gutsy performances. He raced in three P1 International events across Europe and came away with 3 podium placed medals and then went on to win a further 2 Silver medals in both Para-cycling World Cup races in Segovia Spain and in Baie-Comeau Canada.

During his visit to ride with the Hope66 team Dave Broxton had a chat with Mark about his amazing story
