2016: What A Year

2016: What A Year

I think we can all agree 2016 has been quite a year, with significant highs and lows all round – Brexit, Trump, too many bombs, too many celebrity deaths, England at the Euro’s but also the Olympics, Paralympics and Andy Murray were among the highs. In our Industry The FIT Show had its most successful year, big stories of growth, acquisitions and mergers were aplenty, the world didn’t end after Brexit but price increases were everywhere.  Either way it was packed with events of every nature.

And despite all of this, the industry continues to give and so for GM Fundraising, it’s been our biggest year.  Not only have we raised the immense total of £286,112.19 for Hope House Children’s Hospices, we have also had the most events in one year; our biggest team of cyclists, who climbed most feet; hit the most golf balls; had the most successful auction ever and enjoyed the most amount of fun….thank goodness we got an extra day!

We also had a change on the team.  Brocko left to get married, but is still around when we need him and Andrew joined, bringing with him a new level of energy and ideas.

But most importantly we have surpassed a target we set ourselves 3 years ago – we have raised over £1.5 million in total.  Almost £1.38 million of this has gone to the wonderful children and families at Hope House.

Thank you to everyone that has played a part in this, whether it’s participating in an event or donating a pound. We couldn’t do any of this without your support, so, on behalf of the GMF team and the staff, children and families of Hope House, we sincerely thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

And so on to 2017.  It’s the girls turn to shine next year as we get set for our inaugural ‘Ladies Only’ Paddle2Pedal event which takes place in August. We also have the FIT Show and our annual golf day at Mottram Hall to look forward to, as well as making plans for our next big ride and The 2018 GMF Cup.

We wish you all a very Merry Christmas, a refreshing break, for those taking one (we are!) and a peaceful, prosperous New Year.
Gary x
