2013 The Million Pound Christmas

2013 The Million Pound Christmas

The glazing sectors adopted charity, GM Fundraising, surpassed their second major milestone of 2013 at their recent Christmas Gala Dinner.

Despite a mid-event fire alarm evacuation, more than three hundred of the great and good of the industry celebrated till the early hours, at the same time raising an incredible £33,974 for GM Fundraising on the night. This amount took GMF past the £1,000,000 of funds raised solely for Hope House Children’s Hospices; the group having already reached their ambitious target of a million in total funds raised with the Hope 66 Cycle ride across America. Total funds raised now stands at a mammoth £1,106,000.

This event marked the end of a frantic year for the GMF team, having hosted the dinner, a golf day and of course the much publicised Hope 66 ride, which itself raised an incredible £180,606.35.

GMF Chairman, Gary Morton commented: ‘Naturally the team are all delighted, first to have passed our million pound objective in September and then in turn to pass that same milestone in donations to Hope House alone. This has been a remarkably busy period for the team and to have achieved these two landmarks makes it all worthwhile.

He continues: ‘Once again, I find myself thanking this wonderful industry of ours, who continue to support us, time after time, in helping the kids and families at Hope House. I think everyone concerned needs a well-earned break for now, but we will be working on new objectives throughout 2014. I should also mention the wonderful GM Fundraising team of Alan Sadler from The Profix Group, David Broxton of Bohle, Graeme Bailey of Business Micros, Iain McInnes, of McInnes Communications and Mike Derham of Mighton Products. Without these people GMF would not exist.’
