Off the Saddle and into the bank

fashionAfter cycling over 3200 miles across the USA, the blisters, pain and suffering may have finished for the Ride 4 Hope cyclists and support crew. However, the last few months have been focused on bringing in the much needed funds. The result is a massive £91,546.22 thanks mainly to the generosity of the whole glazing industry.

A big thank you also goes out to our headline sponsor Promac Group without which the event would not have occurred, particularly the main directors David Stockton-Chalk, Derek Bonnard and Scott Haslingden who have all been long time supporters of the charity. While the riders may have grabbed the spotlight, the support crew of Dave Broxton, Anthony Taylor and Yvonne McGregor MBE worked tirelessly throughout the adventure.

Gary Morton founder of the charity commented: "Quite some time has passed since we finished but it still amazes me, what exactly we achieved as a team and it's also humbling to know all the support, pledges and interest that our latest adventure generated. But the real joy both for me and the whole team was handing over a £91,546 cheque to the charity, which given current economic circumstances will make a substantial difference."

So what's next for GM Fundraising? Gary Morton and Iain McInnes are putting plans in place for Rome 2 Home, a 1,500 cycling trip from Rome to Hope House in Oswestry in May/June 2010. On their way will be the Alps and Mount Ventoux, one of the most feared climbs in the Tour De France and a little over 26km long.
